Tulum is one of the most popular destinations in Mexico’s Rivera Maya that’s known for its food scene. Some of the best restaurants in Tulum also offer breakfast and brunch options from healthy vegan acai bowls to fluffy pastries, crispy paninis with melted cheese, and smoothies made from locally grown fruits and vegatables.
After sampling my way around Tulum breakfast spots, I’m now sharing my favorite places with you guys.
BEST BREAKFAST IN TULUM TOWN
One of the best breakfast places in Tulum Downtown (aka Tulum Centro), Alfonsina is a cafe with a laid-back ambiance that serves freshly baked pastries, delicious coffee, and home-made sandwiches.

Although Alfonsina opened just recently, it already became popular and has a loyal following among many travelers.
Alfonsina is famous for its yummy croissants, it has many other popular items on the menu like a quinoa bowl, and a variety of smoothies. Customers love Alfonsina’s bread and pastries made from the fresh ingredients.
Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
Alfonsina is pet-friendly, so you can come to hang out with your pooch any time 🙂

2. Del Cielo
If you are looking for delicious bowls and yummy avocado toasts, don’t miss Del Cielo, a perfect spot for Sunday brunch in Tulum that usually has a waiting list on weekends.

Del Cielo offers coffee, lattes, and cappuccinos as well as smoothies and juices. Customers also love classics including chilaquiles, Cuban sandwiches, and huevos rancheros. And don’t forget to try their Coco Lime Brioche French Toast – it’s so yummy!
Portions are generous and vegan and vegetarian options are available.

Since weekends are usually busy, it’s best to arrive early. Weekdays are usually less hectic, and you can get a table quicker than on Saturday or Sunday.

3. Burrito Amor
Burrito Amor is a casual eatery along the busy highway. This place boasts some of the best Mexican food in Tulum, with burritos🌯, guacamole, and healthy probiotics and smoothies.

When you open the menu, you will find a few sections including gourmet burritos, grilled deluxe burritos, and egg burritos as well as add-ons like guacamole.
Pudding with chia, toasted bread, eggs, and chilaquiles are some of the most popular breakfast options.
If you care about sustainability, you will love this restaurant, because it uses only biodegradable packaging from recycled materials and doesn’t sell plastic bottled water.

4. Aroma Cafe
A hidden gem, Aroma Cafe is one of the best breakfast places in Tulum if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy the attention of the staff in a cozy setting.
While this place may not get as busy as some of the most popular breakfast spots, the food options here are just as good.

Some of the most popular options on the menu are crispy French toast, fluffy pancakes, and prosciutto toast. Their freshly brewed coffee is wonderful!
Hours: 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturday 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and closed on Sunday.

5. Matcha Mama
Match Mama is one of the most popular vegan restaurants in Tulum, where you can stop for a scoop of ice cream, a smoothie or an açaí bowl.
Matcha Mama is also a popular breakfast stop thanks to its extensive menu with gluten-free and plant-based ingredients and popular items like smoothie bowls and iced coffee.

After Matcha Mama became popular in Tulum Hotel Zone, it also opened a second location in Tulum Centro. Recently it also opened a third location in Aldea Zama.

6. La Pebeta Tulum
A casual breakfast and brunch spot, La Pebeta is a popular Argentinian restaurant in La Veleta. Here you can enjoy a classic breakfast like pancakes, egg Benedict, local fruits, and freshly brewed coffee.
La Pebeta is within walking distance of several hotels and AirBnb.

Botanica is a cozy cafe with a lush garden in downtown Tulum.
Its menu is influenced by many international cuisines but also has a good mix of traditional Mexican options. Whether you want to find the typical Mexican Huevos Rancheros or feast on salmon tartines, you will love the menu options.
La Botanica has a lot of vegetarian 🌱 and vegan options on the menu. It’s also one of the most beautiful pet-friendly restaurants in Tulum where you can come with your pet 🐕 or spend time working remotely.

8. Don Cafeto
Don Cafeto offers some of the best cheap breakfast in Tulum with a mix of Mexican and Latin American food.
When you stop here, you might find more locals than tourists, and this place has been in business for years.
Guests love big portions that come with a lot of variety. The staff is friendly and welcoming and is ready to accommodate your requests. Some of the most popular items on the menu are enchiladas, chili relleno, tostada, guacamole, and various salsas.
The restaurant also offers vegetarian and gluten-free options.

9. La Vegan Taqueria
La Vegan Taqueria is a cozy little spot that offers some of the best breakfast tacos in Tulum with plenty of incredible flavors like rajas poblanos, campechano, mole and chorizo con papas. Their food is authentic and rich and prices are pretty reasonable for Tulum.
Make sure to try their Jamaica hibiscus flower topping!
All tacos come with sauces and rice and beans on the side. Unlike other popular breakfast joints in Tulum, this little spot is more on a quiet side, and you never have to wait in line to get a table.
Even if you are a non-vegan, you will love La Vegan Taqueria, because their faux meats including chorizo soy and chicharron taste like real ones!

10. Vivo Tulum
A top spot to grab a vegan breakfast, Vivo is a new favorite among travelers. The restaurant boasts gorgeous rustic decors and prides itself on healthy options made in-house from scratch.

Some of the most popular options on the menu are pasta, crepes, smoothies, and salads made with pecans, pineapple, strawberries, and mouthwatering salt dressing.
Don’t miss their savory gorditas, ravioli in tomato sauce, bruschetta lasagna, pesto fettuccine, and a plate of hummus with grilled vegetables – an absolute must!
I also loved their mushroom tacos and through they were some of the best tacos I tried in Tulum!

Whether you are a vegan or vegetarian, or just care to eat healthy, this new restaurant in Tulum is a must-try! I visited this restaurant a couple of times, and loved their food!

BEST TULUM BREAKFAST IN ALDEA ZAMA
Rossina is one of the most popular places for breakfast in Tulum that has two locations:
One in Tulum Centro (aka downtown Tulum) and another one in Aldea Zama. This cafe is open daily from 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and has recently added dinner hours.
Rossina’s menu features freshly squeezed juices, smoothies, and coffee ☕️ in addition to huevos rancheros, sandwiches 🥪 rich smoothie bowls, and mouth-watering pastries 🥮 from the on-site bakery.
Rossina’s classic omelet which comes with fried potatoes and two toasts is a must. And don’t forget to try their sourdough bread, you will love it! 😉
Visitors love Rossina’s friendly service and delicious options, so it’s no surprise that this place is always busy.
✅ It’s also one of the few restaurants in town that don’t have a surcharge for paying with a credit card.

12. Bruna Cafe
Located in Aldea Zama, Bruna is a Tulum favorite that boasts some of the best coffee in town. Guests leave great reviews for their lattes, horchatas, and in-house-made cookies.

Trying one of their signature cakes (chocolate or carrot) is a great start to your day.
Bruna is a pet-friendly cafe with welcoming staff and photogenic decors.

13. Fit a Licious
Whether you are looking for a yummy breakfast or a hearty lunch, you can’t miss Fit a Licious.
They offer coffee, juices, delicious fruit smoothies, pancakes and waffles, and popular Mexican staples like chilaquiles and burritos. The staff offers superb service and goes above and beyond to make sure you have an amazing experience.
The restaurant is located in Aldea Zama, and you can quickly reach it from downtown Tulum or Tulum Hotel Zone.

14. Campanella Cremerie
Campanella is one of the most popular restaurants in Aldea Zama where you can grab freshly brewed coffee, almond criossants, omelette wraps, waffles, pancakes, sandwiches and wonderful teas with fruit flavors.

BEST BREAKFAST IN TULUM BEACH
15. Raw Love
Raw Love is a popular raw-vegan restaurant that has two locations: One in Hotel Zone and another one in downtown Tulum.
Many travelers know Raw Love because of the famous sculpture, La Ven De La Luz, but taking a picture is not the only reason you should come here.

Raw Love boasts a gorgeous setting on the premises of the Ahau Tulum Hotel. It’s only a few steps away from the beach and is surrounded by palms, and hammocks, and boasts a super chill vibe.
Raw Love offers acai, smoothies, fruit bowls, and raw food like salads, soups, and cakes all made with vegan ingredients.
If you are vegan, you will love the fact that they use only coconut milk and almond milk for lattes and smoothies.

You can also create your smoothie bowl with available ingredients.
The only non-vegan ingredient on the menu is honey. Although most people come here for breakfast, Raw Love also has some lunch options like pad thai, portobello burgers, and zucchini pasta.
Everything on the menu is gluten-free.

16. Real Coconut
One of the best farm-to-table restaurants along the beach, The Real Coconut offers plant-based, gluten-free dishes all of which are cooked with avocado oil.
The main focus of this place is breakfast, but there’s no wrong time to enjoy their meals.
Whether you want to try delicious pancakes, tacos, healthy bowls, or sip on one of their yummy cocktails while enjoying the postcard views of the Caribbean, this place is a real treat.
Visitors love the friendly service and minimalist, casual atmosphere. Finish your meal with the decadent Cookies’n’Cream Shake for a grand finale!
Recently, Real Coconut also opened a new location in Tulum Centro, which is perfect if you are staying in the downtown area.

17. Potheads Tulum
Potheads is one of my favorite places for brunch in Tulum near the beach that offers delicious options like smoothies, pancakes, muffins and avocado toasts. Their breakfast potatoes are to die for!
Potheads boasts a nice, laid-back vibe, and plenty of options for breakfast, lunch and even dinner.Try their acai mermaid bowl, or sweet and slaty waffles, they are too good to miss.

Do I need to tip in Tulum restaurants?
After you had your breakfast or brunch, don’t forget to leave a tip.
Be aware that many restaurants in town include a default bill of 20 percent in their final bill. When paying for your food, make sure to ask your server if your bill already includes a tip.
