There’s even a big sign saying exactly that when you disembark at the port.

There are two halves to the island separated by a narrow channel called the split. The north part of the split is filled with mangroves and is home to diverse wildlife. The Caye Caulker Marine Reserve is the protected part of the island. The lower half is home to Caye Caulker Village – the only settlement on the island.

You can get to Caye Caulker by water taxi from mainland Belize, or San Pedro. The inhabited part of the island is small, with comfortable but mostly basic accommodations.
